You will have an opportunity to provide impact and have ownership, as we navigate the complexities of the marketas a senior software engineer in our ground transport business unit, you will be directly responsible for designing, implementing, deploying, and operating the complex backend systems that power hoppers award-Winning user experience. This role will be working on both feature development and infrastructure so youll get to be involved in different aspects of our this role, you will:build and operate robust and performant infrastructure that supports millions of bookings per yearsolve complex technical and software architecture problemsship your first code in days, iterating on features in an agile mannerleverage and contribute to a rich microservice architecture systemexecute on big opportunities, helping hopper rise to the top of the travel industrycollaborate with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growththoughtfully assist with the evolution and automation of our operational processesrequirements:solid understanding of microservices architecture and ability to autonomously develop scala and go-Based microservices (scala or go knowledge is a plus but not strictly required, some experience with the jvm is strongly preferred)experience building and managing multiple external api integrationsexperience and strong ability to design apisprofessional experience developing data-Heavy platforms or apisexperience working with grpc/protobuf and graphqlstrongly preferredsolid understanding of cloud platforms (aws or gcp knowledge is a plus)kubernetes knowledge and experience strongly preferreda strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability (concurrency, non-Blocking io, performance tuning)thrived in backend engineering positions and delivered user experience at scalea passionate focus on quality, writing testable code that performs and scalesexcelled in cross-Functional teams, working fluidly with product managers, data scientists, mobile engineers, and other highly skilled specialistsexperience working in the travel industry would be a plusmore about hopperat hopper, we are on a mission to become the worlds best and most fun place to book travel.
