Ifcs infrastructure department supports the world bank groups aim of improving access to efficient, reliable, and affordable infrastructure in emerging priorities in latin america and the caribbean (lac) for infrastructure are: (i) grow business in the region and achieve strong profitability and impact (ii) build new and nurture existing client relationships to make ifc the preferred partner for key clients (iii) manage portfolio of assets for strong profitability and impact (iv) support local companies, while improving transparency and corporate governance (v) catalyze foreign investment, including mobilizing B loans and parallel loans (vi) introduce and develop new financial products (vii) build long-Term partnerships with strong regional players and (viii) develop client, sector and country-Level solutions that can be scaled and lac infrastructure team seeks a senior investment officer to act as regional lead for brazil. The team is responsible for originating and managing ifcs investment activities (debt, equity and quasi-Equity) in the following sectors: power generation, distribution and transmission, mining, transport & logistics, telecommunications, water, waste, privatized public services and other subnational/cities and accountabilities:(i) leading business development in brazil, in coordination with the latin america and the caribbean infrastructure sector leads (for the delivery of the inr lac business program).(ii) serving as the focal point and liaison to the brazil country manager. Work closely with the industry manager, country managers and officers - Joint work to include developing client, country and sector strategies(iii) primary supervision of infrastructure investment staff based in brazil, actively focused on the attraction, retention, and professional development of the team.(iv) participating in market knowledge exchanges and conferences.(v) serving as the key person for client relationship management of in brazil as needed.(vi) performing the functions of a senior investment officer at all material stages of the ifc deal cycle, from deal origination to portfolio management:- Develop a strong pipeline of good quality investment opportunities in brazil by anticipating market trends and employing sector/country knowledge- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new transactions, portfolio restructurings, capital increases, equity sales, etc- Review and analyze business opportunities, synthesize information into internal reports for decision-Making purposes- Develop innovative and appropriate financial structures for complex transactions- Lead negotiation/documentation deploy strong negotiation skills to develop solutions and overcome impasses in straightforward and complex transactions- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, global and regional private businesses, banking and multilateral partners and understand the political context and the mindset of the government officials to further develop investment opportunities- Lead and manage project teams, mentor and coach junior staff in the team- Coordinate closely with social, environmental, and technical assistance colleagues to add value to our clients businesses, find pragmatic solutions to the specific sector challenges, and achieve sustainable development impact- Has a reputation for being able to connect the dots across business strategies and portfolio management lessons learned to generate innovative ideas, products, or solutions that can be replicated in other locations. Astute in anticipating where future opportunities and innovation will emerge in markets and sectors, and able to leverage expertise and reputation to connect ifc with those opportunities to grow the infrastructure business and open new markets.- Able to have difficult conversations with clients to set reasonable expectations and with team members on their accountabilities or to address performance criteria- Mba or equivalent qualification- At least 14 years of experience with a development finance institution (dfi), a commercial and investment bank or a private equity firm with tasks related to private sector infrastructure financing- Proven and recent deal track-Record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments in infrastructure sectors, including investments in developing markets in lac and brazil- Regional knowledge of countries and understanding of infrastructure challenges
